For those of us who strive to become lean, or have worked toward making our company as efficient and lean as possible, I know we will gain valuable insight on the proven steps to take when we start our next journey. Our speaker for the March meeting has “walked the walk” and will share his proven path methods with us. As a frequent speaker for various APICS chapters, including the MITE Chapter a couple of years ago, Patrick Lynch, CFPIM, C.P.M., CIRM, will share with us details of his participation in a full lean implementation at a medical device manufacturing, assembly and test operation. This operation now is modeled in a manufacturing layout common to contemporary automotive assembly and utilizes many Lean principles. Patrick will focus on techniques to orchestrate your own Lean implementation project and will provide insights to remain in control in your planning stages through implementation, including appropriate measurements to assure lasting improvements. As demonstrated in many industries from devices, to printing, and from gaming (slot machines) fabrication to irrigation sprinkler assembly this presentation will show you many techniques valuable to any manufacturing or development environment. Patrick holds the position of Principal, Materials with Guidant Corporation. His presentation will take you beyond the “3-Bin Kanban” and expose you to processes supporting your journey toward a full Lean Enterprise. Lynch ’s Topic: “Journey to a Full Lean Enterprise” Click here to get the presentation PowerPoint slides Date: Tuesday, October 19, 2004 Sincerely, George Gordon, CPIM, CIRM |
